Vivian's childhood was very fast for her, as she had no interest in anything the other children did. She always had her head in her father's lab, helping him with various experiments. When she wasn't helping her dad, she was usually taking things apart just to see how many different ways she can put them back together.
Her highschool years were hectic for her, and was the years she developed her split personality. Her scientific nature had no interest in the boys, and turned them down at each instant for her experiments, but eventually her hormones gained, literally, a mind of their own. Her alternate persona, which she called Lillian, had became her newest experiment. She would let one person at a time enter her life, keeping them unaware of the split personality, and see how they would respond to her double lifestyle. Many people came and left, but one person frustrated her. One man she could not get to leave. Lillian wanted him to stay more than anything, but she would not let this one person intervene in her experiment.
They ended up being together for years. He loved her, and Lillian loved him back, but Vivian only saw him as another experiment. He did show himself to be useful in the lab, however, and took a chemistry major in collage to help her. He was a year older than she was, after all.
Vivian eventually accepted his presence, and allowed Lillian to come out when she wasn't in the lab so they could be together. Begrudgingly, of course, but she still allowed it. After a few years she finally figured out how to make him her ultimate experiment. Well, at the time anyways.
She brought him down to her lab one day, asking him to try out a new machine that she had created. He had hopped in the machine with her, and she handed him a head set. She explained to him that she had invented a Virtual Reality simulator. He agreed to test it out with her, and they were plunged into the digital realm. Once inside they trained with digitized swords, and they were evenly matched. But she hit him with a special code that she made herself.
When they were done and ready to leave, she deactivated the machine. He was trapped inside, however. The blade that she had hit him with turned his DNA into a computer code, giving him a twisted form of immortality. Lillian was furious, but they struck a deal. Every night she would be put in the machine, and each personality would be separate form. All three were happy with the arrangement.
A year passes, and not much has happened. The experiments go on as usual, although Vivian's social experiment had ended. She had also gotten herself a new assistant. One of her classmates in collage, Sarah. They worked endlessly on the various projects, mostly for school. Sarah even was allowed into the VR simulator after some time, even being able to beat Vivian in the training program.
One thing they didn't expect, however, was an attack on the lab. Some men dressed in what looked like electronic suits came into the lab one day. Vivian and Sarah were working on a EMP grenade that they had thought up the design for. Well as they rushed in Vivian saw the electronic suits and thought it would be the perfect moment to test out the grenade. She tossed it and it went off, but the lab equipment was affected as well. Everything immediately shut down, lights included. When everything came back on, all the men were on the ground. Vivian and Sarah examined them, and found that they were dead. When Vivian checked their suits, she saw that they were connected right to the wearer's brain. Thus they died in the blast.
A few days later, Sarah decided that they needed a night out. They went out to the town with a few other friends of theirs. They had a lot of fun, but afterwards Sarah brought Vivian to a out-of-the-way shack just outside the city.
"I was telling my uncle about you, and he said he wanted to meet you." Sarah explained. "And don't worry, he may want to think were together but I didn't let him." She reassured, giggling afterwards
They went inside, and saw that the interior was a relatively large mansion. Vivian was shocked by this, but didn't get the chance to ask questions. Sarah lead her up the stairs to what Vivian imagined to be the master bedroom, which turned out to be a large office. Inside a man waited, although the shadows all to conveniently masked his face.
"So, you must be Vivian?" The man asked, his voice deep and serious.
"And you must be a walking cliche." Vivian retorted.
"Do you know who your talking to?"
"Do you know how little I care?"
"Wait, what?" The man just stood there in confusion, not sure how to respond to Vivian's feisty nature. Vivian took this opportunity to verbally beat him down, but Sarah stopped her half way.
"Viv... my uncle only wants to give you a job..." She whined.
"Oh? Then why didn't he say as much?" Vivian asked.
"You didn't give me the chance..." The man whined.
    "Shut up!"
"Please just hear him out..." Sarah begged.
"Alright, fine. What's your proposal?" Vivian reluctantly asked.
"Simple, join my little group and you can transfer everything from your lab into one here and you'll have near limitless resources." The man told her.
"Okay, what's the catch?" Vivian asked suspiciously.
"The catch? Well you'll just have to do a few missions and experiments for me." The man slyly told her.
    "Sounds fair. I'm in."
"Good, but first you'll need a code name. Pick a gemstone." The man asked, Vivian giving him an odd look.
"Ametrine." Vivian told him, not an ounce of hesitation in her voice.
"Well, Ametrine. Welcome to the Jewels!" Ametrine, however, didn't see how much her life would change from this. At first she thought that just meant she would be working for a crazy old guy who was probably senile, but after her eval she realized otherwise. It was about a week before this would happen, and in that time she was able to finish a few experiments she just simply didn't have the resources to do in her previous lab. Then she got called back up to the main office one day for her eval. She was to go in the mansion basement, where he had been hearing drilling, and find out what was going on.
When she got down there she used a lens that she had created to detect anomalies in the walls. There was one spot that showed signs of being worked on, as filled in. She took a sample of the filler and put it in one of the many sterilized bags she keeps on her. As she turned around to walk out someone was standing at the stair way.
"What is such a young flower doing in a dirty place like this?" The man asked with, what seemed to her, was a cross between a french and italian accent. The accent alone got Lillian's attention, but she wasn't in control at the moment.
"I'm merely doing my job, now step aside." Ametrine ordered, her voice firm and stiff.
"Oh my, this rose has many thorns." The man told himself, laughing a little. "I fear that... I... cannot do that, I'm afraid."
At which point Ametrine took out a pistol she kept on her. "Then maybe your corpse will." She threatened, aiming the gun at his head.
"Now, now... there's no need for anything like that..." The man told her, stepping closer. "Why don't you put that away?" He asked.
"Take another step and I wont have to." She warned. He continued walking towards her and she fired, hitting him between the eyes. A woman ran down to see what happened, but Ametrine was already up towards the main office. "I took care of the problem." She told Topaz, their leader. "And he wont be doing anything for a long time." She told him before leaving him alone entirely. A lot of her missions went on like this, and she was often left behind to care for the mansion when others went out. She didn't care though, she was happy in her lab. She made all kinds of things, such as a set of weapons that can combine into more weapons using cold fusion. It was one of her most wonderful creations, but one that she didn't see too much of a big need for. Her favorite one, however, was a long knife she made that could have the blade flipped back and pushed forward to double as a pistol. It was the weapon that saved her on more occasions then she can count, and not to mention she could flip between knife and gun mode with just the flick of the wrist. Her inventions brought her everywhere, and in the end gave her an alternate body that could last her to time's end. She had remained with the Jewels through out all their generations, an android with technology at least fifteen years ahead of the world she lived in. Lillian was eventually given a body of her own as well, along with the man she loved. They were both assassinated July 8, 2034, thinking that the two personas were still in a single body. Ametrine could feel part of her die that night, but she filled that hollowness in her heart with more creation and destruction.
On January 30, 3019, this cold emptiness turned into a hatred for humans. Now she already had a keen disliking centuries ago, but now she had been brought to criminal violence. She wreaked havoc in the great metropolises of the world, being one of the UN's biggest thorns. However, on April 4, 3024 her body was found, torn piece by piece. It almost looked like she was mauled by a man-sized cat. Nobody cried for her loss, but there were a few that thought maybe, just maybe, this was all a ruse, and that she was still hiding in the nooks and crannies of the world, biding her time till she was ready to strike down mankind. The truth? Nothing was ever seen of her again, but if she could bring her consciousness into separate bodies then it'd only be a matter of time for her to pop up. We, however, cannot reveal things that have yet to happen.
This is a copy of an older work of mine, so I'll have to go back and edit it when I have the time to bring it's quality back up to my current standard.
